Rent Or Buy A Hospital Bed? Do The Maths First
The break-even point usually lands around month eight. Here is how to work out which is better for your situation.

The Real Question Is Duration, Not Cost
This decision depends entirely on how long the bed will be needed. Unfortunately that is the hardest thing to predict when a family has just had news from the doctor.
A simple rule: if the doctor expects recovery within six months, renting is almost always cheaper. If the condition is permanent, buying starts to make sense.
Work Out The Break-Even Point
Take the purchase price and divide it by the monthly rental. That is how many months before renting costs more than buying.
| Model | Monthly Rental | Purchase Price | Break-Even |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2-function | RM139 | RM749 | About 5 months |
| 3-function | RM229 | RM1,249 | About 5 months |
| 6-function electric | RM649 | RM4,999 | About 8 months |
These figures do not yet account for the buyback guarantee, which changes the maths considerably.
What The Buyback Guarantee Changes
With a 50% buyback, the true cost of owning is half the purchase price. A 3-function bed at RM1,249 effectively costs RM625 if you sell it back to us.
That is roughly three months of rental. For families unsure how long they will need it, buying with a buyback guarantee is often safer than a long rental.
- Buy — pay once, claim 50% back when it is no longer needed
- Rent — small monthly payments, return it any time
- Rent-to-own — rental payments count towards the purchase price
Factors Beyond Money
Renting means the supplier carries the risk if the bed breaks. Buying means you own an asset that has to be stored or resold afterwards.
- Do you have space to store the bed when unused?
- Who repairs it if an electric motor fails?
- Is the patient expected to improve or decline?
- Might you want to upgrade to another model later?
